These are the most important and immutable rules that you agree to by attending our events. Anyone found in violation of these rules may be asked to leave without a refund. These rules are in place to keep the game safe and enjoyable for the majority of people in attendance, not for any single individual.
NO TOUCHING W/OUT PERMISSION & NO HORSEPLAY/STUNTS. That means
none whatsoever. You never actually strike or grapple with another player. It’s far too easy for things to get out hand in the heat of the moment. Save the stunts for your imagination. If you can imagine you’re a centuries-old vampire, then you can sure imagine you’re swinging on a chandelier or leaping across rooftops.
NO WEAPONS. No matter how careful you are no weapons are allowed. Whether it’s to prevent some fool from skewering himself on your new dagger, or to make sure the police don’t think you’re a threat; weapons of any sort are forbidden. Even fake or toy weapons (lightsabers, laser pens, squirt guns) are not allowed. Use item cards instead.
NO DRUGS OR DRINKING Drinking and drugs at game events and do not come to the game drunk or high. Not only do they not inspire peak performance but, players who are so impaired are a threat to other players and the game. It’s one thing to play a character who is drunk or stoned, but another thing entirely to actually come to a game under the influence. At best it’s tasteless; at worst it’s illegal. Don’t do it.
IT'S ONLY A GAME If a character dies, if you feel screwed by the plot somehow, if a rival gets the upper hand remember... it’s just a game. You and the rest of the players are doing this for
FUN. Taking things too seriously, or taking character issues into real life, will only spoil everyone’s enjoyment. Remember, playing a game should be fun — if you’re not having fun, you always have the choice of leaving ... but don't be a jerk to the storytellers and players if you're unsatisfied. Just leave the game behind when the session’s over. This is only a character you are playing, not a real person. When the game is over for the night, it’s over. Take out your fangs and go back to the real world.
BE MINDFUL OF OTHERS Not everyone in the world will immediately realize you're playing a game & sometimes we won't be gaming in a location that the average person won't see us. Obviously we don't want to frighten people or get the cops called on us so please, mind your manners when those not playing the game are around.
HAVE FUN Not “Win.” Not “Go out and conquer everyone else.” Just have fun. The point of playing the game is working with others to tell a story. Sometimes your real life friends will play your sidekick, sometimes they'll play your enemy... but, no matter what don't lose sight of the fact that you're friends and you're here to have fun and share a story.
