The Best Laid Plans

The paperwork was laid out on the desk. Every signature in its place. The land was his, at least for now. He new that this was going to just be a fleeting moment in his life just like so many others. 10 to 15 years tops would be all that he could get out of this before he had to move on, but like so many other times he would leave something of himself behind, a trace of his presence.
He picked up everything, separating it out into three piles. Each went into its own envelope and was sealed. One placed on the self of his Haven, another would be in his office. The last he slipped an extra piece of paper in, the one that mattered the most. This one would go were only she would find it, and with it everything would become hers, if the unforeseen did happen.
He did not dwell on it though for his mind was already racing with the possibilities of what the next year would bring to the city. A new museum for the city, dedicated to a time in history were everything was different. A learning center to teach the past, what he live, so that it wouldn’t be lost to time. A small scale village of the typical life, designed, constructed and set up so that people could learn by living it, as well as offernig craftsmena nd women a place to sell their goods. In the morning the contractors would be receiving the layouts for the structures. With luck by the end of the week the foundation would be laid out and ready to go.
He leaned back in the chair, his eyes drifting to the handle of his sword, perhaps he would be able to finish it soon, make it what it should be. He exhaled deeply as he looked back at the map of the city. He knew that even if he wasn’t able to find the answers he needed, at least the city would benefit from his attempt. The creation of a new destination in the city to drive revenues and holiday shoppers. The planes he has for future festivals to draw even more economic stability to the city. It would only take time…
